Ignazio and Antonietta Gatto began their business, Gatto Flowers, with a truck and a dream, to provide products that would exceed customers expectations. This husband and wife team began in 1980 by supplying many convenience stores and grocery stores with fresh cut flowers that they created on a daily basis. With their growing success, there became a need to have their own facility where they could cut, store and bunch their flowers. It was at this time, they converted their basement into a flower production facility. This allowed them to keep costs down while meeting the needs of their growing business. As their business began to flourish, so did their family. Ignazio and Antonietta were blessed with two daughters, Luisa and Linda. Having the business in their home, allowed Antonietta the ability to work as well as take care of her girls. Ignazio and Antonietta worked tirelessly to grow their business and as their family grew, their business did too! In 1987, Gatto Flowers moved to their current Mississauga building, a 10,000 square foot facility!
As the fresh cut flower business was becoming competitive, they saw an opportunity to expand their business. Customers began to order flowers for every occasion from birthdays, anniversaries, to special occasions such as weddings and the unfortunate loss of a loved one.
With the diversity of the business changing, weddings became a real passion for Antonietta and her youngest daughter Linda. Seeing her parents passion in flowers and wanting to be a part of the business, Linda Gatto officially joined the business in 2002. Linda has brought a creative edge and flair to the business and has helped to establish Gatto Flowers as a well-known florist in the wedding industry.
Gatto Flowers has continued to be successful after 30 years for several reasons. The ability to offer fresh flowers for any occasion while continuing to maintain their core business has been critical. In addition, working alongside the Gatto Family is an excellent team of extended family, friends and employees. They together with the Gattos have worked hard and contributed to the success. Furthermore, the business has relied primarily on word of mouth loyal customers, who year after year, continue to come back and recommend Gatto Flowers for any occasion. Ignazio and Antonietta are grateful to have such loyal customers and for many, can now call them friends.
With much success, Gatto Flowers has also seen the need to continue to give back! Gatto Flowers is committed to being a part of community events and charities, which include events in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Mothers and Daughters Breast Cancer Awareness Brunch, Hats off to Kids, Vaughan Hospital, Michael Power International Womens Day and the Paraplegic Cruisers event.
Gatto Flowers continues to be committed to providing customers with the best quality products and services that exceed expectations. With over 30 years experience, let Gatto Flowers show you how they can “Make the Difference”.
